My Story

I think it needs courage more than everything else to achieve something..

I wanted to have CBIP label next to my name but thought of spending time after work was horrible. Then I felt it’ll be difficult to do it alone so tried to find friends in my team who were also very interested. We motivated each other and ordered CBIP prep book. It took two weeks to get the book and we were so excited for everything and wasn’t ready to waste a moment.

Well we got the book on first week of Feb’13 and my motivation was over when I saw the syllabus….”what is this” was my exact words. How am I supposed to study so much. No way.. I was done and I dropped the idea of certification. 

I was not feeling very motivated towards my work as well and so were my team mates(my best friends I would sayJ). We actually needed some zeal and feeling of do or die. And boom …we came to know about TDWI conference in Vegas on 17^th Feb’13. I was not ready to go there..It is expensive, I don’t want to spend money on this and what about office? How am I going to manage one week leave?

Well thanks to my friends they said we wanted some adventure and it will be adventure. As expected our company denied exam sponsorship (they are always there to discourage you so prepare your mindJ) 

My friends were so much motivated that they were ready to sponsor my exam and whole trip (God should give such friends all ;-)). The deal was that I will help them to study and clear the exam (as girls are good teachers, at least we believed so) and they will pay my fees (not bad deal for me)  

 Well we were ready to attend TDWI Vegas conf and were very much excited. It was adventure for us.  

I spent week to search all the topics of syllabus from internet and books but my motive was to read each and every topic from syllabus ( I am Searchaholic  (I am not sure even if this word exists but I am obsessed with Google search).

Now I had encyclopedia of IS Core exam. We planned to spent first three days attending TDWI sessions and last three days giving exams. Oh man it was horrible plan….After two days I was dead and my mind was filled with so much information that I was not able to digest.

 I am not sure why they arranged conference in Vegas. We had to rent a house away from strip otherwise we would have ended up doing fun. “Who can study in Vegas?” 

Well we spent three days in just covering IS Core..and I just kept on memorizing my college moments when studied these topics first time..I am sure you must also feel that.

And examination day arrived. We were confident, excited. We were the only one doing last moment reading outside the exam room like school students and it wasn’t professional I guess coz the way people were staring at us.

Exam started – 110 questions in 90 min OKAY…I tried all the tricks like marking  question for which I am not sure about answer and reading questions thoroughly and etc. etc.

AND I was left with 20 question and 5 min left :{ Its very very difficult to complete the exam and its very very important to finish the exam even if you don’t know any question/answer.

 Well the good part is all three of us cleared our exams during TDWI conf and it was the most exciting examination of my life.

One thing which I believe about certifications or any other exam is You need to think and study like you are really in college or school. The way we have cleared our degrees. Study thoroughly, memorize if needed, make notes.  Its seriously not about practical experience only. You need to read books/notes...
